(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 13 - The setting is again that of the Middle Ages (as he calls it) as in the last work "Ballads for men and beasts" (released last May, winner of the Tenco Award for best album) , but this time the field of investigation is love in its various forms and absolute protagonists are animals. Vinicio Capossela, on Valentine's Day, returns with Bestiario d'amore (LaCupa / Warner Music), an ep that comes out on the thirtieth anniversary since the beginning of his career. "This work is part of the same 'brood' of the Ballads, but I wanted it to live in its own right, like a sort of appendix," says the singer-songwriter from Rome born in Germany.
"In an era of pestilence, not only literary or allegorical, but also epidemiological in these times, I withdraw from the dictatorship of current events to tell the stories of love. Even if escaping the plague is then a way to give ourselves more deeply", explains Capossela who has always distinguished by allegories and metaphors, his distinctive trait was that for his work he drew on the work of Richart de Fornival, a scholar of 1200 who, by combining the fabulous naturalistic descriptions of medieval bestiaries and the phenomenology of amorous behaviors, tries to scientifically describe the most noble feeling. "Working on Fornival's text was an alchemical operation. With the difficulty then of making what I had obtained, especially for the reckless use I have of the voice".
Bestiario d'amore, made up of 4 tracks of a loving setting and enriched by a remarkable booklet illustrated by Elisa Seitzinger, will be presented live on February at the Union Chapel in London, then the Italian tour will start from 22.
