"I have prepared a rule to overcome the current provision of article 73 paragraph five which does not provide for immediate arrest for drug dealing cases". This was stated by the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese after presiding over the Provincial Committee for Order and Security in the Prefecture of Ancona.
"We have had a working table with the ministry of justice - he explained - and we have found a solution that convinces both us and justice, giving the possibility to immediately arrest those who are guilty of this crime with custody in prison".
On the reports received from various committees for order and security, Lamorgese remarked: "It has been noted that arresting, without custody in prison, and the next day seeing the drug dealer taken the day before on the same street corner, affects also on the demotivation of the police personnel who work so hard on this side and see their activities being put into thin air when we find them in the same place the next day ".
In Ancona, the minister noted a decrease in crime in the city (-10%) and in the province (-13%) and a situation "under control where the prevention phase works very well". However, as reported by other committees, the use of drugs by younger and younger children is recorded. For the police force in Ancona in 2020 "about twenty more people" are arriving after the 2018 integration with 45 units.
