Mercedes signs the first day of Formula 1 testing in Barcelona, on the Montmelò circuit, in view of the new season. The best time, behind the wheel of the M11, was marked by the world champion Lewis Hamilton, the only one to go under the wall of the 1'17 '', for 24 thousandths, in front of his teammate, the Finnish Valtteri Bottas (1 '17''313, chrono that was the best of the morning). Ferrari drove for a long time, with only Charles Leclerc, finishing 11th in the times standings (1'18''289). Fourth time, however, for the Dutch Red Bull, Max Verstappen (1'17''516), who made 168 laps on the Catalan track, being the busiest in the day ahead of Carlos Sainz with McLaren (161 laps) and to Leclerc (132). Over 170 laps covered the two Mercedes drivers together. Last time for Antonio Giovinazzi with Alfa Romeo, who completed 79 laps.
