(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 6 - Twitter has updated its rules against the language of hatred to ban "dehumanizing" comments that target age, disabilities and diseases. Previously comments had been banned that had religion targeted.
In a post, Twitter cites research that demonstrates how a dehumanizing language, where categories of individuals are treated as if they were less than human beings, increases the risk that people are hurt not only online, but also in real life.
After a series of comparisons with experts, "in July 2019 we expanded our rules against hatred to include a language that dehumanizes others on the basis of religion.
