(by Alessandra Baldini) (ANSA) - NEW YORK, APR 23 - Disney + challenges the coronavirus and broadens the Star Wars universe. According to "Variety", LesleyHeadland, who co-created, directed and produced the Netflix series "Russian Doll", is said to be working on a package package centered around a female character.
The series, whose details are still top secret, would unfold in an unexplored period of time compared to other Star Wars projects. Headland will write the script and will be the main producer.
The choice of Headland marks a new step forward in the Star Wars world towards greater diversity behind the camera. Until now, the films in the saga had always privileged men in the main creative roles with the exception of "The Empire Strikes Back", co-written by Leigh Brackett with Lawrence Kasdan. Disney + seems to be moving in a new direction: many episodes of "The Mandalorian" have been directed by women: Bryce Dallas Howard and Deborah Chow, the latter also assigned to direct the awaited series on Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor.
