TikTok exceeds 2 billion downloads

First quarter record due to coronavirus (ANSA)

The TikTok application has exceeded 2 billion downloads on a global scale, from the App Store stores for iPhone and Google Play for Android devices. Sensor Analysts say so. The app had exceeded 1.5 billion downloads five months ago.

In the first quarter of this year, TikTok reported over 315 million downloads from the two stores. This is the highest number ever recorded by an application in a quarter, analysts point out, who attribute the record to the coronavirus epidemic and social isolation measures.

India is the first country for TikTok, with 611 million downloads. The second is China, where the app is called Douyin, with 196.6 million installations. The data, however, appears very underestimated because it does not include downloads made by stores for Android other than Google Play, which is not available in China. In the US, third country, the application has been downloaded 165 million times.
