National parity of teachers: teachers will receive an extraordinary payment for the coronavirus crisis

The Minister of Education, Nicolás Trotta, announced this Friday that an agreement was reached in the national parity of teachers, which includes the payment of an extraordinary sum for the coronavirus crisis.

"The continuity of the payment of an exceptional amount in the months of August, September, October and November and the adaptation of working conditions and their organization in the school context for the return to the classrooms when the epidemiological situation allows it," were agreed, explained from the educational portfolio.

As detailed, the payment of the extraordinary sum called “FONID-suma extr.COVID-19” will be maintained, on account of the National Fund for Teaching Incentives (FONID), of 4,840 pesos per position.

Up to two charges will be contemplated and payments will be made in four equal monthly and consecutive installments of 1,210 pesos each . The first will correspond to the month of July.

"The same will be effective in the months of August, September, October and November 2020 together with the payment of FONID ($ 1,210) and educational material ($ 210)," they detailed. 

Trotta, accompanied by the Secretary of Labor of the Nation, Marcelo Bellotti, and the Secretary General of the Federal Council of Education (CFE), Marisa Díaz, led a new meeting in which the five teaching union entities with representation were unanimously approved national -CTERA, UDA, CEA, SADOP and AMET- and the 24 educational jurisdictions of the country a new parity act.

The minister highlighted the “enormous commitment that the educational sector is carrying out in the framework of the pandemic to guarantee the pedagogical continuity of our children, adolescents, youth and adults” and spoke of the importance of “taking another step in the collective construction of consensus for the safe return to classrooms ”.

The understanding also contemplates that the Negotiating Commission of the Framework Agreement of this National Teaching Peer will be convened during November, to analyze the evolution of this agreement and the working conditions of teaching work. 

"We all want our school to be that space that allows Argentina to stand up and we can build better realities. We do not conceive of any other way of doing it than through dialogue with male and female teachers. We want to recognize their commitment and, on the initiative of the President, our Government makes this exceptional contribution because it contributes to the income of each and every teacher in the country, ”said Trotta. 

The meeting was attended by the secretary of the Federal Council of Education, Marisa Díaz and the members of its Executive Committee for the five regions: María Agustina Vila (PBA-Centro); José Manuel Thomas (Mendoza - Cuyo); Mariela Nassif (Santiago del Estero - NOA); Daniela Torrente (Chaco - NEA) and María Cecilia Velázquez (Santa Cruz - Sur).

For the national union entities participated: Sonia Alesso, Roberto Baradel, Eduardo López, Luis Branchi and Juan Monserrat (CTERA), Norberto Cabanas (UDA); Juan Carlos Aguirre (CEA); Rubén Blanco (AMET) and Jorge Kalinger (SADOP).
