410 patients are currently hospitalized in an intensive care unit, including 49 admissions in 24 hours. Ile-de-France, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur account for 69% of these serious cases.

In France, 35 new epidemic foci have been counted. In total, 1,266 “clusters” have been formed since May 9, but 746 of them have since been “closed”.

Test positivity on the rise

"In mainland France, the dynamic of high-growth transmission remains worrying: all the indicators continue to progress while the number of tests carried out remains constant", notes the DGS in this report. 819,470 tests were performed this week. The test positivity rate, up, is 3.7% between August 16 and 22. At the start of the summer, only 1.4% of tests were positive.

"In the overseas territories, the situation is mixed and the health authorities remain very vigilant", continues the DGS. “In Guyana, the epidemic situation continues to improve and hospital pressure is decreasing day by day. The virus is circulating more actively in the Antilles, Reunion Island and French Polynesia. "

At the top of the departments having recorded the greatest number of positive tests, compared to the number of tests carried out: Saint-Martin. The island of the Antilles faces a spread of the epidemic more important than in spring. Guyana, too, remains at a high positivity rate. In mainland France, Val-de-Marne, Bouches-du-Rhône and Seine-Saint-Denis recorded the three highest positivity rates, around 6% over the past week.
