"Grey's Anatomy": That happens in Alex Karev's final episode
There is good news first: Alex Karev * survived his final episode.
In his absence from Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, however, other unexpected events occurred that induced him not to return to the hospital.
In a letter to Meredith, he explains his decision: Since he is back in a relationship with ex-wife
Izzie (Katherine Heigl)
, he now lives in Kansas and is therefore no longer returning to the hospital.
Karev is also the father of twins
, whom Izzie gave birth to several years earlier.
The series was not only able to bring the story of Alex to an end, but also cleared up Izzie's fate.
She was seen in several seasons at the very beginning of the series until she suddenly disappeared.
One character in particular was hit hard by this unexpected twist: Karev's current wife,

She received another letter with divorce papers.
In his letter, the pediatrician regrets not breaking up with her personally and describes this decision as arguably the worst decision he has ever made.
He admits to love Izzie and Jo.
But after Izzie gave birth to Karev's children, he sees it as his job to look after them.
