This Thursday the Government reported

8,204 new infections

and another

134 deaths

from the coronavirus pandemic in Argentina. The data arise from the load carried out during the last 24 hours by each province in the SISA system, and were published in the daily part of the Ministry of health.

With more than

2,177,898 confirmed cases

since the beginning of the pandemic, Argentina ranks

12th among the countries with the highest number of infected people detected

.

If the number of infected per million inhabitants is taken, the situation is different: the country is in 48th place.

This Thursday, meanwhile, it was known that the Government signed an agreement by which the country will receive, possibly next week,

three million doses

of the Chinese-origin Sinopharm vaccine.

The information was confirmed to

Clarín

by high official sources.

"We are closing the logistics," said one of the sources when asked for precision on the arrival date of the cargo.

The Sinopharm vaccine has the peculiarity that it has not yet met the necessary approvals to be applied to those over 60 years of age.

For this reason, in Argentina it

is being used only in minors of that age

.

According to the latest data published in the Public Vaccination Monitor, 1,919,074 doses of the different vaccines that arrived in the country have already been applied in the country.

Currently, only 354,519 people received the two doses that complete the immunization plan.

Most of the doses were applied to health personnel (1,067,882), the group that was prioritized due to its high level of exposure to the virus.

People over 60 years of age are another of the most immunized groups, with a total of 502,082 vaccinations applied.
