Protest action against the closure of cultural institutions. "We will establish a permanent cultural parliament here, as a place for meetings, assemblies, debates and workshops" says Valentino Ferro, lighting technician and entertainment worker, among the occupants of the Grassi theater. (HANDLE)

About fifty people, including workers of the Lombardy show coordination and students, this morning occupied the courtyard of the Teatro Grassi in via Rovello, in the center of Milan.

For the protest action against the closure of cultural institutions they have chosen - they explain - a non-random date: today is in fact World Theater Day.

"We will establish a permanent cultural parliament here, as a place for meetings, assemblies, debates and workshops" says Valentino Ferro, lighting technician and entertainment worker, among the occupants of the Grassi theater.

Show workers at around 8 this morning entered the courtyard of the cultural institution where they intend to stay as long as possible for what they call the 'Rehearsal of a live show'.

"This action - explains Ferro - is part of a day of national breath to relaunch the struggles of show business workers and our requests for reform, protection and continuity income. We chose the Piccolo because it is the first municipal drama theater in Italy. Italy, as written in the program of the hall of '47. For us it is a symbol ".

At 11 the occupants will make a garrison in front of the entrance to the theater, on via Dante.
