The Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed this Saturday
another 89 deaths and 9,803 new cases
of coronavirus.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Argentina has added 107,302 fatalities and more than five million infections.
Of the last reported deaths, 13 resided in Mendoza, 12 in La Rioja, nine in Misiones, seven in Córdoba;
six in Chaco and Corrientes;
five in the province of Buenos Aires, Federal Capital, Chubut and Jujuy;
four in Santiago del Estero, three in Salta;
two in San Juan, Río Negro and Neuquén;
and one in San Luis, Santa Fe and Tucumán.

The objective of the Casa Rosada, as announced on Friday by President Alberto Fernández, is to apply a total of 7 million second doses during the month of August, to complete the schedules and strengthen immunity, especially in people over 50 years of age. , especially those who have more time from the first dose.

As explained by the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, these 1,514,940 vaccines will be used as second doses in the schemes started with Sputnik V throughout the country, in accordance with the Strategic Vaccination Plan of each jurisdiction.
By population size, the province and the city of Buenos Aires will receive a total of almost 700 thousand doses of Moderna, followed by Córdoba and Santa Fe, which will each have more than one hundred thousand vaccines.

The importance of second doses
This week doctors, researchers and scientific referents urged people who must complete their immunization schedule to use the combination between laboratories and confirmed that this option is safe and generates an immune response similar to that obtained when the same drug is applied.
Even the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Roberto Salvarezza, assured that those who choose this option can "remain calm" and guaranteed that, for example, if Sputnik V is combined with AstraZeneca there is "practically the same immune response" as if both doses of the Russian vaccine will be used.
However, attention is still focused on how the presence of the Delta variant will evolve in the country, after last Thursday the Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, announced that 50 people had been isolated and another 300 tested, to after two positive cases of the most contagious variant of the disease have been detected in the City of Buenos Aires.
