(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 23 - A new extensive fire broke out in Vilia, north west of Athens, where fifty firefighters with 20 vehicles and two units, along with six helicopters and five aircraft. The website of the Greek newspaper Kathimerini reports it.
The new fire, located in the Kaza area, is fueled by strong winds. Police blocked traffic on the Elefsina-Thivon highway near Vilia and the authorities issued an evacuation order.
Meanwhile, another fire broke out on the island of Evia, one of the areas most affected by the flames in recent weeks.
There are 46 firefighters with 20 vehicles at work. Residents of the villages of Marmari and Kokkini were asked to evacuate with a coast guard ship, a private boat and two passenger ships. (HANDLE).
