Loto du patrimoine: the 100 new sites that will be saved

2021-08-30T16:16:58.829Z

This Monday, in Marcoussis (Essonne), Stéphane Bern and the Heritage Foundation revealed the list of 100 monuments in danger, everywhere in France.

And 100 more!

At the beginning of the afternoon, this Monday, the Heritage Mission chaired by Stéphane Bern unveiled the new sites benefiting from the subsidies of the fourth edition of the Heritage Loto, which starts, on the scratch games side, on August 30.

They come in addition to the 18 “emblematic” already selected last April, those which benefit from full funding and are pictured on the tickets.

The draws for the game, six this year, will take place on September 6, 8, 11, 13, 15 and 18.

Like last year, in order to try to satisfy everyone and avoid controversy, one site per department was selected from the long list (4000 in total!) Of those who submitted a file to the mission, i.e. 96 in mainland France and 4 overseas.

A plural choice which, if it still includes a majority of castles and churches, also includes, for example, an old tannery (Rhône), a water mill (Haute-Loire), a bread oven (Pas-de -Calais) or an old courthouse (Tarn-et-Garonne).

In Seine-et-Marne, it was the Bezanleu tile factory that won its ticket.

"Sites with a heritage but also social and economic interest"

“We pay great attention to this diversity. I believe that we have silenced those who, at the beginning, thought that we only wanted to restore castles or churches. There is everything and the more things go, the more I fall in love with industrial heritage, admits Stéphane Bern. There is also a former maternity hospital in the list, in Guyana. These are sites that are probably not prestigious but that speak to people, to which they are really attached. "

To announce the winners, however, the Mission did not hesitate to choose the setting… of a castle.

That of Montagu in Marcoussis (Essonne), a medieval wall from the 15th century, of which only a tower remains standing, in very poor condition.

“Yes, it's a castle.

But it is above all because it is symbolic of what we want to develop more and more: it is located in a horticultural high school of the Orphelins d'Auteuil Foundation and restored for years by an association that there organizes work placements for young people.

The plan, finally, is to open it up to visitors.

This is exactly what we want to wear: sites with a heritage but also social and economic interest ”, defends the organizer.

The heritage Loto perpetuated until 2024

An ambition that should be able to take root in the future.

The balance sheet of the Heritage Mission, recalled today, is convincing.

Thanks to the 131 million collected in 4 years, 627 sites have received aid and 297 (work completed or in progress) have already been saved.

At the start of the year, the agreement between the State, the Heritage Foundation, which manages the funds, and the Française des Jeux was renewed for three years, making the heritage lottery permanent until 2024.

“I believe that we have succeeded in getting things done,” says Stéphane Bern.

On the ground but also in the minds of people.

There are signs on monuments when buildings are restored thanks to the Mission.

Often, people send me pictures to thank me… Frankly, I do not see which president would want that the Loto du patrimoine stop ”.

Without a doubt. There remains one question, eight months from a presidential election: the Heritage Lottery yes, but with or without Stéphane Bern? The facilitator's response is without hesitation: "If I am offered to continue, whoever the president is, I will continue".
