A 37-year-old man from Cologne is said to have poured hot coffee in a woman's face at Cologne Central Station on Saturday morning.
According to testimonies, a woman who was lying in the station passage apparently disturbed him on his way.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the man for dangerous bodily harm, the federal police said.
The two police officers were first pointed out to a woman who was lying in the station blocking the cleaning work.
When the allegedly drunk woman fell asleep again and again after contacting the police, a witness approached the officers, according to the report.
He reported that the woman had just been showered with a drink.
A man asked her to get up.
When she didn't comply with his request, the 37-year-old poured his coffee over her.
The witness identified a man not far away as the perpetrator.
On closer inspection of the woman, the officers found that the 33-year-old had redness on her face.
An ambulance took her to the hospital for further treatment.
