Covid data: 40,948 positive and 193 victims in the last 24 hours, rate at 9.3%

In intensive care, 40 fewer patients. Rezza: 'Transmission slows down but incidence still high' (ANSA)


There are 40,948 new infections from Covid in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

On Thursday, February 24, there were 46,169.

Instead, the victims are 193 (Thursday there were 249).

There are 440,115 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

On Thursday there were 484,530.

The positivity rate is 9.3%, down slightly from 9.5% on Thursday.

On the other hand, 799 patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 40 fewer than on Thursday in the balance between entries and exits.

Daily admissions are 58. Patients with symptoms in ordinary wards are 11,706, or 419 fewer than on Thursday.

12,693,320 Italians have been infected with Covid since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Currently positives are 1,175,924, down 23,304 in the past 24 hours, while total deaths rise to 154,206.

The discharged and healed are 11,363,190, with an increase of 65,180 compared to Thursday. 

Rezza: 'Transmission slows down but incidence still high'

 - "The transmission of the virus tends to slow down and for hospitals there is a gradual trend towards decongestion of the structures. Given the current epidemiological situation which sees an improvement trend but a of incidence which is still high, it is advisable to respect all the measures: social distancing, use of masks in closed places and complete the cycle with a booster dose for those who have not done so ".

This is what the director of prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gianni Rezza said, commenting on the weekly data on the trend of Covid in Italy.
