Borrell, asked China to exert its influence for truce

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 07 - "During the meeting they had to leave for a conversation with China. From my point of view, China cannot act as a mediator because its position is closer to Russia but it is clear that it can exercise its influence and play a role in a diplomatic solution ".

This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell at a press conference after the informal Development Council in Montepellier.

    "I asked China to exert its influence" on Russia to achieve a "ceasefire" in Ukraine, he added.
