Queen Elizabeth II has once again had to skip an important royal family tradition this year.
The 95-year-old will not attend the Easter service at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
This was reported by several British media.
There is only speculation about the reasons, as it is likely that the elderly queen, whose general state of health was recently described as stable and good by family members, is severely restricted in her mobility.
"As you can see, I can't move," the 95-year-old had recently said about her problems and used walking aids in audiences and for short distances.
The event is a fixture on the royal calendar - as is the Royal Maundy service on Maundy Thursday.
The heir to the throne, Prince Charles, and his wife, Duchess Camilla, represented the Queen at this ceremony.
Virtual Audiences
According to tradition, the heir to the throne and his wife gave away commemorative coins to the needy and to people who had rendered outstanding service to the community.
It is not yet known which family members will appear on Sunday, but Charles and Camilla will not be there either.
The Queen, who is celebrating her 70th anniversary of the throne this year, had recently canceled several events, but appeared in public at the memorial service for her husband Prince Philip, who died in 2021.
However, she gives virtual audiences from her Windsor Castle residence near London.
At the memorial service, she appeared on the arm of her son Andrew - which caused displeasure among the British public, as the prince is considered persona non grata due to his involvement in the Epstein abuse scandal.
About a year ago, the monarch lost her husband Prince Philip at the age of 99.
At the beginning of June, however, the throne jubilee is to be celebrated - with city festivals, a parade and a top-class concert.
