Easter: the weekend promises to be very sunny... and busy on the roads

2022-04-14T15:29:45.688Z

Bison futé announces a Friday classified red, a Saturday always dense and an orange Monday in the direction of the returns. Watch out for blows

If you take your car to leave this Easter weekend, arm yourself with patience.

"It will be the most difficult of all the spring school holidays in terms of road traffic", warns Bison smart, who anticipates a Friday classified as red and heavy traffic on "all the main axes" and "in all the regions”.

Saturday, departures in the morning and until the end of the afternoon will still cause traffic jams, mainly on the main axes of the north-west of the country, and towards the Mediterranean.

One of the reasons for these future traffic jams: the good weather, of course.

It should persist all weekend.

Friday afternoon, already, temperatures will reach 25 ° C in the South-East and will be around 20 ° C in the rest of the country, according to Météo France.

Saturday, the Easter weekend will begin with a great sun over all of France.

Only the Southwest could experience cloudy skies, while temperatures will be between 20 and 25 ° C in the afternoon.

On Sunday, Météo France still predicts bright sunshine across the country.

However, a few clouds should bring some shade to the northeast quarter during the afternoon.

Temperatures, slightly lower than Saturday afternoon, will reach a maximum of 22°C in Bordeaux.

The minimum, 15 ° C, is expected in Cherbourg.

Finally, for Monday, Météo France anticipates clouds in the west of the country and sunshine in the east.

Temperatures will drop slightly further, to reach between 15 and 20°C in the afternoon.

A red Friday, with heavy traffic throughout France

On the roads, Friday will therefore be classified as red.

Bison Futé recommends first crossing major cities before noon to avoid the heaviest traffic, especially towards Normandy from Paris or towards Marseille from Lyon.

In Île-de-France, additional difficulties to those usually observed could appear from the end of the morning on the A6b motorways and the bypasses (BP and A86) which join the A6 and A10 motorways.

Traffic will remain very heavy in the direction of departures until mid-evening.

Starting in the afternoon, Bison Futé recommends avoiding the main roads.

And quote mainly:

  • The A10 motorway between Orléans and Poitiers, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A11 motorway between Paris and Le Mans, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • The A13 motorway between Rouen and Caen, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A7 motorway between Lyon and Marseille, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • The A8 motorway between Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Maximin, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., from Cannes to Italy, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A9 motorway between Orange and Montpellier, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., from Montpellier to Narbonne, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • The A62 motorway between Bordeaux and Toulouse, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A61 motorway between Toulouse and Narbonne, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Access to Italy through the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N 205) also looks complicated, with "sustained traffic" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An orange Saturday, and red in some regions

Saturday will be classified as orange, sometimes red in Normandy and Brittany (A13, A11, N 12, N 157), but also towards the Mediterranean, in the morning and until the end of the afternoon.

In Île-de-France, traffic will be very dense from the start of the morning towards the toll gates of the A10 and A6 motorways.

Traffic difficulties are also expected on the A13 motorway from mid-morning.

Bison Futé recommends leaving or crossing Île-de-France before 8 a.m., and always recommends avoiding the main roads, including:

  • The A11 motorway between Paris and Le Mans, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A13 motorway between Rouen and Caen, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The N 12 between Rennes and Saint-Brieuc, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • The N 157 between Laval and Rennes, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • The A7 motorway between Lyon and Orange, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and between Salon-de-Provence and Marseille, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A8 motorway between Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Maximin, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Cannes to Italy, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The A9 motorway between Orange and Béziers, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • The A61 motorway between Toulouse and Narbonne, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Access to Italy via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N 205) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (waiting over 30 minutes).

Orange Monday in the direction of returns

Monday, unsurprisingly, will be busy in the direction of returns.

The difficulties will start at the end of the morning as close as possible to the coastal areas of the country and will gradually approach the major cities.

In Île-de-France, traffic difficulties are expected throughout the afternoon until late in the evening on the A10, A6 and A13 motorways.
