Firefighters acted as tank crackers in Bocholt and took high school exams from a school safe.
The fire brigade reported that an unusual call for help was received from the Euregio-Gymnasium on Friday.
The safe's combination lock was defective, and the door was "absolutely locked."
There was no way to get to the Abitur exams.
Fire brigade forces made their way to the school's secretariat and were able to use technical equipment to process the safe so that the necessary documents could be accessed, the fire brigade said.
The students were able to write their exams on time with an hour delay, it said.
"The cheering of the teachers present was certain for the tank crackers of the fire brigade," said the fire brigade after the operation.
