Britain's Lester Piggott, considered one of the greatest jockeys of all time, has died at the age of 86 in Switzerland, where he spent the last few years, British media reported.
Known by the nickname 'Long Fellow' ('The big boy'), he won 4,493 races between 1948 and 1985, including the Epsom Derby (a record) nine times and the Arc de Triomphe three times.
He came from a lineage of jockeys, as his father and grandfather had also won great events.
Very precocious, he won the first race at 12 and only 18 his first success at the Epsom Derby.
