The Trenitalia summer schedule kicks off on 12 June, aiming to go "beyond the train journey" with increasingly integrated connections with other means of transport, to reach tourist destinations, including smaller villages.
The CEO of Trenitalia, Luigi Corradi, will present the 'Summer Experience 2022', underlining that the goal is "to encourage the choice of train by looking at the travel experience in its entirety" with an increasingly convenient, multimodal proposal " and sustainable ".
"Compared to the period of Covid - says Corradi - we have made an effort to reduce costs by increasing promotions. Today we cost about 10% less, while all other ways of traveling have increased prices".
The summer package includes: over 240 Frecce per day, with 23 new stops in tourist resorts;
124 Intercity with 75 new stops, and 6,800 regional connections with the confirmation of the 'Link' connections (train + bus or train + ship).
Connections abroad are also increasing, with the Frecciarossa Milan-Paris and Paris-Lyon, and with Eurocity and Euronight for Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
The main element of the summer plan is therefore the strengthening of modal integration between the means of transport managed by the companies of the new "Passenger" hub of the FS Group:
For example, it is possible to reach the Ligurian coast, the Adriatic coast and the towns overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea by train and bus, from Tuscany to Calabria with more trains and stops and, in some cases, with the availability of more seats. on board.
Connections in Sicily and throughout the Ionian coast have also been strengthened.
Passengers can also use the train to reach the mountains, traveling for example at night between Rome and Bolzano.
Or, for those who choose High Speed, there are 12 Arrows that allow you to reach the tourist resorts around the mountains of Bolzano.
The summer can continue towards lakes and archaeological sites on board regional trains also connected by buses: from Lake Garda to the villas in Lazio up to the excavations of Pompeii in Campania.
One of the missions of the passenger hub is also to unite the three gates of the country: railway stations, airports and ports.
To reach the islands or fly to your destination, direct or combined train + bus and train + ship or ferry connections are available to 18 ports and 17 airports throughout Italy.
The integration with other means of transport is also improving, including bicycles with over 20,000 seats a day available on Trenitalia trains.
Also this year, the group supports the campaign against the abandonment of dogs: until September 15, four-legged friends travel for free on board Frecce and Intercity every day of the week.
