Hollywood star Johnny Depp, 58, has opened a TikTok account and thanks his fans for their support in his first post.
Just under a week after his broad victory in the US defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, Depp posted a short compilation of waving fans in front of the courthouse in Fairfax County, Virginia on the video platform.
Other scenes show Depp at a typewriter and with guitar on stage at his recent concert appearances in England.
In a message to "all my very valued, loyal and unwavering supporters," Depp thanked his fans.
They had stood by him faithfully and now it was time to move forward together, wrote the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor.
In the TikTok profile, he introduces himself as an »occasional actor« (Occasional Thespian).
In just a few hours, "johnnydepp" was followed by several million users.
After a six-week defamation trial, in which the ex-husbands accused themselves of domestic violence, the jury voted largely in favor of Depp last Wednesday.
Heard has now been ordered to pay Depp more than $8 million in damages after a jury found him guilty of slandering Depp in an article in the Washington Post and damaging his reputation.
On TikTok, the live court case developed a life of its own, with Depp having much more sympathy on his side than Heard.
The hashtag #JusticeForJohnnyDepp had 16.2 billion views on TikTok at the time.
Its counterpart, the hashtag #JusticeForAmberHeard, hit just 53.2 million.
