A recall was started for a type of coffee from the discounter Aldi.

Shards of glass were found that could cause serious injury.

Food – Aldi-Nord is recalling a variety of instant coffee.

As the discounter announced on Wednesday (June 9), certain items may contain glass splinters.

As a precaution, Aldi calls for the product to no longer be consumed in order to avoid injuries to the mouth and throat or internal injuries and bleeding.

The article "Moreno Gold 100g" with the best before date (MHD) June 18, 2023 and the LOT L1169 is affected by the recall.

The items can be returned in all Aldi Nord branches - the purchase price will be refunded.

The discounter points out that other items of the "Moreno" brand, items with different best-before dates and other products from the supplier "Seda Outspan Iberia, SLU" are not affected.

Aldi recall: broken glass found in popular coffee

Depending on the size of the glass splinters, they can cause various injuries.

These can be external cuts on the hands, or in the mouth and throat.

Difficulty breathing and internal injuries can also occur if the splinters are swallowed.

There is also a risk of inflammation if they get stuck in the body.
