Car journeys become prohibitive with current fuel prices, despite the government's 'discounts' on excise duties and VAT.
Maybe a last minute plane or train is better, net of the transport chaos of these days.
To give an example, according to a survey by Codacons, the full-price record belongs to the route (the longest taken into consideration) Bolzano-Trapani: to travel by car (total distance 1,646 km) you have to spend one way and back almost 400 euros for petrol supplies, +83.5 euros on 2021 (332.8 euros for diesel, almost +87 euros compared to the summer of 2021).
But also to go from Turin to Reggio Calabria with a petrol car and travel the 1,362 km that separate the two cities, an average of 330.8 euros must be taken into account this year, between the two cities.
