As Donald Trump's first wife, she jokingly said she was then "First Lady" shortly after he was elected President of the United States.
Ivana Trump, 73, died on Thursday, ABC News reports, citing her family.
She shared her life with Donald Trump for fifteen years, until 1992, having three children with him (Donald Trump Junior, Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump).
“Ivana Trump was a survivor.
She fled communism and embraced this country,” her family wrote in a statement.
And to add: “Our mother was an incredible woman – a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, a caring mother and friend.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful and incredible woman, who led a wonderful and inspiring life,” responded Donald Trump, in a post on his social network, Truth Social.
Ivana Trump reportedly died of a heart attack in her apartment in Manhattan, New York, ABC said.
The emergency services were called this Thursday around 12:40 p.m. local time.
The death at 73 of this television star would not be considered suspicious, the media also specifies.
A union on the front page of the tabloids
Born in the Czech Republic, naturalized American in 1988, Ivana Trump had become a model then a reality TV star in the United States, participating in several shows including "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2010. She had met Donald Trump in 1976 in New York, with whom she had married the following year.
Both had worked on big projects like the Trump Tower.
The Trump couple had become the star of American tabloids, on the front page of which their separation had been serialized.
In 1989, while on vacation, they are seen fighting after Ivana Trump finds out about her husband's mistress.
