This text was published in its original version for the first broadcast of "Tatort" on June 7, 2020.
The scenario:
The joy and frustration of the suburbs: After the murder of a student, Batic (Miroslav Nemec) and Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl) investigate on the outskirts of Munich where men and women meet near the forest for anonymous parking lot sex or in exquisite homes for social exchange.
The investigations soon intensify around two families who, despite all the friendship they display, are obviously linked to one another in an ominous way.
The highlight:
Often the look of the characters reveals that they mean something different than what they are saying.
The suburb becomes a fight club for the subtle verbal and facial exchange of blows.
The picture:
Two naked people hopping away between the trees in front of a nocturnal forest backdrop in the pale light of the police spotlights.
Nearby is the parking lot where people meet for sex.
Batic sighs: “Dreams come true there.” Leitmayr groans: “I just stepped in one.” Then a look down at the sole of his shoe, to which a used condom is stuck.
The dialogue:
Leitmayr, Batic and assistant Kalli talk about the sex parking lot at the station:
Kalli: »The evaluation of the mobile phone data revealed five people who were in the parking lot at the time in question.«
Leitmayr: »Five? How does that work? A couple and, well, and a threesome.”
Batic: "Or a fiver."
The song:
Vivaldi's "Four Seasons: Summer".
The concert is heard by a family man on his self-assembled sound system.
What a warm sound, what a cold world.
The review:
9 out of 10 points.
Bourgeois self-mutilation, shot to the point between untamed nature and optimized living landscapes.
This "crime scene" also inspires in the repetition.
At the moment there is a lot of discussion about the meaning and purpose of public service broadcasting.
Here he shows what he can do.
