Actress Yasmina Filali and ex-soccer player Thomas Helmer have split up.
"Unfortunately, our relationship didn't survive the third seventh year," said the celebrity couple in a joint statement, according to "Bild am Sonntag".
They did not give a reason for the separation.
Both had been a couple for more than 20 years and got married in 2005.
"We have grown up together and remain not only friendly and family, but also connected in the heart," it continues.
The two have two children together.
European champion in football
The 47-year-old Filali became known in the 1990s with a role in the RTL soap "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten".
Helmer, 57, looks back on a career as a professional soccer player.
The Westphalian played in the Bundesliga with the top clubs Dortmund and Bayern.
With the national team he became European champion in 1996.
Until 2021 he presented the TV show »Doppelpass«.
Helmer and Filali made regular public appearances as a celebrity couple.
Two years ago, Filali said on the “NDR Talk Show” about the beginning of their relationship that she had found Helmer “not so incredibly convincing now”.
But then she realized "what a great guy he is."
Helmer is “simply a great person”.
