Australian Cate Blanchett has won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival.
Irishman Colin Farrell won the award for best actor.
The film festival's Golden Lion went to the documentary "All the Beauty and the Bloodshed" by US director Laura Poitras about photographer Nan Goldin.
This was announced by the jury on Saturday evening.
Other awards from the jury:
Grand Jury Prize: Alice Diop for »Saint Omer«
Silver Lion for Best Director: Luca Guadagnino for »Bones and All«
Special Jury Prize: »No Bears« by Jafar Panahi
Best Screenplay Award: Martin McDonagh for The Banshees of Inisherin
Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor: Taylor Russell in »Bones and All« by Luca Guadagnino
In »Tár« (directed by Todd Field), the 53-year-old plays the fictional first chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, named Lydia Tár.
She has achieved everything a conductor can achieve.
In order to hold her own in the patriarchal world of classical music, she has developed a brittle uncompromising attitude.
But then her life gets out of hand because of allegations of abuse.
Blanchett excels in the role of a woman who tends to appear cool.
Unless she spends time with the daughter of her partner Sharon (Nina Hoss) - or stands at the conductor's desk.
In the black comedy »The Banshees of Inisherin« (directed by Martin McDonagh), 46-year-old Colin Farrell plays the Irishman Pádraic, whose best friend to date, Colm, suddenly and without reason decides to end their friendship.
Completely irritated, Pádraic tries to rekindle the friendship and does not accept his former friend's no.
He then takes drastic measures.
The Venice Film Festival has been running since August 31 and celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
