Singer Ed Sheeran paid tribute to the late Queen with a song at a concert in Munich – and announced that his career would have been very different without her.
He performed his hit "Perfect" in memory of Elizabeth II. "I'm sure I would never have started playing guitar without the Queen," said the superstar.
As the Queen celebrated her 50th jubilee, Ed Sheeran watched the celebrations on TV.
He was only eleven years old at the time.
“Then Eric Clapton played.
He played the first notes on the guitar and I was completely enchanted.
That's where I wanted to go,” Sheeran said.
»I practiced and ten years later I was on stage for the queen myself.
It had come full circle,” continued Sheeran.
Concert in the pouring rain
For the Queen's 70th jubilee last June, Sheeran performed again for the Queen.
He also played »Perfect« back then.
Much of the concert took place in the pouring rain, and Sheeran got pretty wet too.
The stage of the Munich Olympic Stadium is not covered.
But the singer did not complain – on the contrary, spread a good mood.
"We have no choice but to continue having a good time," said the 31-year-old, according to "tz".
Even when the technology went on strike because of the wetness, Sheeran remained calm.
"It's live," he said, and intoned his next song a cappella because the guitar amp had failed.
