After Unai Emery, who left Villarreal this season to go to Aston Villa, another Spanish manager finds a bench in the Premier League.
This is Julen Lopetegui, sacked a month ago by Sevilla and who was announced today as the new manager of Wolverhampton, a club currently in 19th place in the English top flight.
In the past, Lopetegui was also Spain coach and led Real Madrid for 14 games, in the 2018-19 season.
"Julen is a high-level coach, he has great experience even in top clubs and we are happy that he has found an agreement with us", the comment of the president of Wolves, Jeff Shi, quoted in a note from the club.
Wolverhampton had sacked their coach, the Portuguese Bruno Lage, a few days before Lopetegui was kicked out of Sevilla and immediately made the former Spanish coach his first choice.
But Lopetegui had declined the proposal and the Spanish press had explained this justification with the poor health of the technician's father.
Now, on the other hand, Lopetegui seems to have solved his problems and, after having defined some bureaucratic issues, he will take office starting from the 14th of this month, when the Premier will stop for the World Cup.
