With the participation of Syria, the coronation ceremony of the sixth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative, held by the United Arab Emirates, will be held next Thursday at Dubai Opera.

And competed in the final qualifiers of the tournament 19 virtual participants representing 18 Arab countries during the past month, including the Syrian champion in the challenge, the girl Sham Bakour, according to the coordinator of the initiative in Syria, Ali Al-Abbas.

In a statement to SANA between Al-Abbas that the closing ceremony will witness the coronation of the champion of the Arab Reading Challenge in its sixth session, and he will receive a valuable prize to continue expanding his perceptions, and follow up his educational and cognitive achievement, noting that the closing ceremony also includes announcing the school winning the title (The Distinguished School), and the coronation of ( The Distinguished Supervisor), and honoring the challenge champion at the community level, i.e. the participants in the challenge from outside the Arab region.

Al-Abbas pointed out that Syria is participating for the first time, and the finalists for the final stage of the challenge were selected according to specific criteria, after integrated electronic qualifying qualifiers carried out by the judging committees (the Arab Reading Challenge), and all participants were evaluated according to the standards adopted by the challenge since its inception.

Regarding the prizes presented at the closing ceremony, Al-Abbas explained that they include a prize of one million dirhams for the distinguished school, 500,000 dirhams for the winner of the title of Arab Reading Challenge Champion, 300,000 dirhams for the winner of the first place with the title of Distinguished Supervisor, and 100,000 dirhams for the first place winner with the title (Communities Champion), pointing out To good preparation and hope for the victory of the seven-year-old Syrian champion Sham Bakour from Aleppo, who, despite her young age, was able to prove her ability and talent.

Al-Abbas pointed out that the supervisor, Haneen Al-Abdullah, who received the Distinguished Supervisor Award at the Syrian level, competed for the title of best supervisor at the Arab level, explaining that the students who got the first nine ranks at the level of Syria will attend the closing ceremony in an honorary visit for them to Dubai, which will include an entertainment program. Its duration is five days.

It is noteworthy that the competition, which began 6 years ago, requires reading 50 books as a preliminary condition to enter the competition, and 22 million students from 92,000 schools in various Arab countries and their communities around the world participated in this year’s edition, where the participants in the final competition represent 44 countries around the world distributed Between 18 Arab countries and 26 non-Arab countries, the latter participated through the Arab communities residing there.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Education announced in December last year that it would open the door for participation for students of different academic levels in the sixth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative for the year 2021-2022, where 61,000 participants from 16 educational districts in all governorates participated in the first phase of the qualifiers locally.
