In 2021, modern distribution reached 440 thousand direct employees, with a growth of 3.1% compared to 2019 and an increase of over 58 thousand employees from 2013 to 2021, the sixth sector for growth in Italy.
This is what emerges from the Position Paper produced by The European House-Ambrosetti for Adm, the modern distribution association.
In particular, in the South, the sector is in fourth place for the incidence of new hires, and in terms of female and youth work, it records respectively +32% and +67% of employed persons compared to the national average.
"Looking at the data on employment we see how in the modern distribution the under 30s are 20% of employed people, against 12% of the Italian average; female employment concerns 65%, against 49% of the average; and fixed-term contracts they are 89%, against 83% of the national average", underlined Valerio De Molli, managing partner and CEO of The European House - Ambrosetti.
