The Hamburg rapper Gzuz, convicted of assault and violations of the explosives and weapons law, is in prison.

The 34-year-old started his prison sentence on January 13, said the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office, Liddy Oechtering.

The chief public prosecutor did not say in which prison the musician was being held.

On March 4, 2022, the Hamburg Regional Court sentenced the frontman of the rap group »187 Strassenbande« to eight months and two weeks in prison.

At the same time, the criminal court had imposed a fine of 180 daily rates of 2,300 euros each, i.e. a total of 414,000 euros.

The Chamber punished the slap in the face of a young woman who had asked the rapper for a selfie on the Reeperbahn in the morning.

For that alone he was sentenced to eight months in prison.

Despite a gun ban on Gzuz, whose real name is Kristoffer Jonas Klauß, the police had seized a blank pistol, a silencer, a telescopic baton and cartridges when they searched his house.

In addition, the rapper shot into the air with a gas gun on New Year's Eve 2018 and had himself filmed.

His defense attorneys had described the slap in the face of the young woman as a misjudged self-defense situation.

Gzuz had to believe he was being filmed against his will.

The young woman forced him and used low-threshold violence.

It was an illegal attack by the woman, confirmed lawyer Ulf Dreckmann before the verdict was announced.

However, the presiding judge Nicole Dietrich ruled that it was not self-defense.

The rapper is 1.95 meters tall, the young woman is small and petite.

She may have been annoying, but not aggressive.

Last September, the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court rejected an appeal by Gzuz.

The judgment thus became final.

The rapper had previously run into trouble with the law.

From 2010 to 2013 he had served a sentence for robbery and assault.

First, the "world" had reported on the incarceration.
