Farewell to Maurizio Scaparro, giant of the Italian theater

(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 17 - Maurizio Scaparro has died.

He had turned 90 on 2 September 2022 and died in his Roman home.

He was the last great character of that group, of which Strehler was the progenitor with the Piccolo dei Milano, which, after the war, gave birth to public theater and modern directing in Italy.

After the beginnings at the Stabile di Bologna, director of Bolzano, then in 1983 in Paris, alongside Strehler, and immediately afterwards director of the Teatro di Roma (1983-1990);

then extraordinary commissioner of Eti, director of the Olimpico in Vicenza, of the Teatro Eliseo in Rome (1997-2001).
