Intense activity of Russian ships in the Mediterranean is tracked by the
Itamilradar
site .
The phenomenon is well known and has been monitored for some time by the Italian Navy.
Just a few days ago, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral Enrico Credendino, had reported to the Houses of an "impressive increase" in the Moscow fleet in the Mediterranean, with about ten units and an "aggressive" attitude which could also cause accidents.
Itamilradar informs of the presence of the tanker 'Akademik Pashin' and of the frigate 'Ammiraglio Kasatonov' which are currently sailing in the Sicilian Channel from the Syrian port of Taurus.
The probable hypothesis is that the two ships will pass the Strait of Gibraltar to return to Russia.
The 'Pashin' and the Kasatonov' could soon be replaced by the tanker 'Kama' and the frigate 'Admiral Gorshkov' which will soon enter the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.
Thus the Russian fleet in the basin will not decrease.
A few days ago another tanker, the 'Kola', entered the Mediterranean from Gibraltar.
The ship is now in the Ionian Sea south of Corfu and is heading north.
You could enter the Adriatic Sea where the 'Combat strike' group of the American aircraft carrier 'George Bush' is located.
'Naval battles', therefore, which - at the moment - are at the level of skirmishes, provocations, 'shadowing' as they say in the jargon, to make the Western forces that furrow the Mediterranean feel the Russian presence.
But - given the delicate moment and the risk of lurking accidents - the attention is very high on the part of the Italian Navy and NATO.
