Today is the second day of the CGIL Congress in Rimini.

"It is a pleasure to be at the national congress of the CGIL.

At the center of the theme of work, which was also at the center of yesterday's debate in the Chamber, where we wanted to recall that this is a country in which work has become impoverished, made increasingly fragmented and more precarious. We will fight for a minimum wage because below a certain threshold we really cannot speak of work because it is exploitation".

Thus the secretary of the Democratic Party,

Elly Schlein

, arriving at the CGIL congress.

"We will fight because there are more than three million workers who are poor even if they work, which is why I felt like bringing the issue to the attention of the government and President Giorgia Meloni yesterday: we can no longer accept, especially in a situation of high inflation and the risk of household purchasing power, such low wages and such precarious contracts. Therefore - he adds - alongside the minimum wage, the battle for the law on representation that wipes out pirate contacts and the one to finally be able to limit fixed-term contracts that condemn many young people and women of this country to precariousness".

When asked who to do this battle with, "we have the pleasure of confronting each other today.

The minimum wage is one of the issues on which all the oppositions in Parliament have presented motions and bills.

So we will discuss it shortly", he replies. "There is a battle on which all the oppositions have made bills or motions on which I hope and hope that we will be able to find a unified direction and I am immediately available to think about how to change our proposal" to find it is the one on the minimum wage, to fix, "alongside a strengthening of collective bargaining, a threshold below which it is said that it is not work but exploitation".

"The most worrying thing" about the tax delegation is "the surprising compromise they've managed to find, for now they're talking about a flat tax on increases but in the future they indicate that as a road and in the meantime they've removed a bracket" but "it's nonsense to say that they're lowering taxes for everyone": thus "we favor those who are better off, those with higher incomes will see greater gains", said the secretary of the Democratic Party during the debate at the CGIL congress in Rimini.

"Another problem is that it is very expensive, it is not clear whether they intend to do it by further cutting school and health care".

"

I think we need to continue the discussion on all content to be more effective in our opposition role

". Schlein inviting the leaders of M5s, Third Pole and Avs to meet even later, "let's lock ourselves in a room, even until late at night, to find something to do together".

A pact between the oppositions starting from concrete proposals such as those on the minimum wage which is "a battle that has always been of the M5S"

.

To propose it, from the stage of the CGIL in Rimini, is the leader of the M5S

Giuseppe Conte

"The real challenge - he declares - is to find ourselves all on the ground of concrete proposals and the contents of these proposals are a perspective for common action".

Above all because we are faced with a government that has unveiledly announced a neo-conservative political framework since day one that has announced a program that it is struggling to implement, revealing inadequacy".

"I'm interested in talking about issues that are related to the welfare state, welfare, health, minimum wage, collective bargaining, we are not here for any photos of Vasto, there is no alliance, the Democratic Party and the M5s are one thing, we are something different not because I dislike them but because we have different ideas on 90% of the political agenda": thus the leader of the Third Pole

Carlo Calenda

arriving at the Rimini Palacongressi for the round table with Elly Schlein, Giuseppe Conte, Nicola Fratoianni.

"I expect him to continue doing what he is doing. Meloni is right-wing, there is a need for those who oppose the right to build an equally clear alternative," said the secretary of the Italian left, Nicola Fratoianni, arriving at the congress

of

the CGIL, answering the question on the presence of the prime minister tomorrow at the trade union meeting.

Building a broad alliance is "obvious. If that's not there, we don't even start playing the game, it's a sort of appeal that I start right away", he adds.

"Today we are speaking with the political forces that represent the opposition - said the general secretary of the CGIL,

Maurizio Landini,

during the meeting with the leaders of the opposition -. From our point of view in a moment in which everything, with a crisis of representation between citizens and politics, the basic question is do we want to return to giving voice and representation to the world of work and what structural reforms do we want to make to go in this direction. "Wages are poor, c 'is an unprecedented level of precariousness, a tax system that does not hold up.

On all of these things, what does the opposition want to do, is it able to measure itself in this direction and what relationship does it want to have with the trade union organizations?", he asked.

The tax issue "is the bottom line:

I say it very dryly, the country is on its feet with the taxes paid by employees and retirees. I'm pissed off, I'm not into it anymore

that it's me who pays taxes even for those who don't pay them, when they could pay more than me

", Landini said again to the applause and standing ovation of the audience.

The taxman is "the new citizenship pact", he adds.

"We need a law on representation and contracts must have general validity, erga omnes. Within this scheme we are also willing to set a salary threshold below which one cannot go", said the general secretary of the CGIL, underlining the union's position on minimum wage, according to which in this way pirate contracts are fought and through negotiation not only the salary is guaranteed but also all the rights and protections provided for by the legislation.

The anti-Papeete coordination of the oppositions was born in Rimini

On the Rimini stage of the CGIL, what Lucia Annunziata proposes to call the "Anti-Papeete Coordination" is born, that is, a permanent confrontation of the opposition on some key issues starting with work.

Elly Schlein, secretary of the Pd, has launched the idea of a table of oppositions even "outside this congress", but all the others accept willingly.

SI leader Nicola Fratoianni says: "Actually we are already a bit late", while Giuseppe Conte of the M5S says that "every progressive force" must "make a common front" against the "conservative right-wing forces".

"Giuseppe and I" are already discussing the issue of the minimum wage, urges Carlo Calenda of Azione: "
