The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection reported today (Monday) unusual results in water sampling to examine the state of pollution in streams in the north of the country, and inform travelers and local authorities that entering certain streams may be dangerous.

In the tests carried out on April 2, 2023, results were found in a number of streams in the north that exceed the recommendations of the Ministry of Health (400 faecal sounds in 100 ml) and indicate the presence of water pollution. The abnormal

results were obtained in the streams and the following water sources:

1. Nahal Ayon - entry from Lebanon: 700.

2.Shnir (Hatsbani) - Roman bridge: 870; below the hydroelectric station: 570.

3. Jordan - Bridge of the Five: 1,500; Masad Atart: 1,260; Gesher Hori: 800.

4. Yehudiyya waterfall: 730.

In view of these results, entering these streams may be dangerous until the obtained sampling results are normal and stable:

1. Nahal Eyon.

2. Shnir (Hatsbani) - from the Roman bridge to the mouth of the Jordan.

3. Jordan - from the Bridge of the Five to the Bridge of the Aunts.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection informs that there is a suspicion that the source of the pollution in Jordan is the flow of effluents from the Goma reservoir into the Jordan.

Also, high values were measured in Nahal Eyon already at the point of entry into Israel.

Sampling is carried out from one sample per month through Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, at fixed sampling points in the northern streams (Upper Galilee, Golan and Western Galilee).

The dots represent a waterfall, a pond or a section of a stream.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection continue sampling and monitoring and will update as needed.
