Botswana's Nijel Amos, 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 800m, has been suspended for three years for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced.
Amos (29 years old) tested positive on June 4, 2022 for "metabolites GW1516" during an out-of-competition test, and was provisionally suspended in July, just before the World Championships in Eugene (USA).
He was barred from competing until July 2025 and will therefore miss the 2024 Paris Olympics, which would have been his fourth participation in the event.
