Mother's Day is all about mothers. Then a joint excursion can also provide feelings of happiness. There is a lot to choose from.
Bremen – Once again, it's high time to celebrate the mums. Because without them, none of us would be in the world. To do this, they take on nine months of hardship, and even the years after that are not always subject to entertainment tax. Mother's Day, this year on May 14th, is the best opportunity to give back at least a little bit.
Often the thank you comes in the form of sweets or flowers - which makes the economy hum. The German Retail Association expects 2023 million euros to be spent on Mother's Day gifts nationwide in 973. If you particularly like or honor your mom, you can also take more time. And even plan a joint excursion. After all, not every day has time for that. But where should the journey lead? There is a lot to choose from.
Excursions on Mother's Day: By bike or on foot in the countryside or in the city
On Mother's Day, for example, excursions into the countryside are a good idea. Forest or elevations in the vicinity can be visited, perhaps combined with a small picnic. But it is also possible to integrate a bike tour where nature can be enjoyed in spring.
Or how about a trip to a nearby city, where the daily program can be supplemented with a visit to certain sights or directly a city tour? Castles or palaces also invite you to take a short trip on Mother's Day. Depending on the weather, an excursion on the water is also a good idea - whether with a rented pedal boat or as a passenger on a larger ship, on a lake or a river. Before or after, you can stroll along the shore to round off the excursion, depending on the prevailing bathing rules, it is of course also worth jumping into the water when it is dry.

What to do on Mother's Day? These excursions are nice gift ideas
If the weather doesn't play along, the excursion on Mother's Day can also lead to a swimming pool or thermal bath. There may also be a professional massage or sweating together in the sauna. Or how about a spa day? If your mother likes it a little more adventurous, a rafting tour through the rapids is a good idea. If she wants to go high, balloon rides, paragliding, gliding or even a parachute jump beckon.
However, many mothers are certainly also enthusiastic about visiting a zoo or wildlife park. With the 49-euro ticket, Deutsche Bahn also entices you to take a trip to a place of your choice. Even with punctual trains, some routes offer spectacles – for example, in the form of fantastic views during the journey.
On the excursion to the rails, special offers are also on the program. Mother's Day breakfast is on board at the Sauschwänzlebahn in Baden-Württemberg. The event starts at 9.30 a.m. in Weizen. The Hessencourier dedicates its season opener to all mothers and sets off from Kassel to Naumburg at 12.10 p.m., returning the same way at 16 p.m.

Boat trips on Mother's Day: excursion to Lake Constance, Danube, Moselle or Oker
Lake Constance shipping invites you to a Mother's Day trip from the ports of Constance and Lindau. The tour at 10.30 a.m. includes lunch, and the 15 p.m. includes coffee and cake. The Danube boat trip has three Mother's Day trips from Regensburg to Walhalla in its program, at 11 a.m., 13 p.m. and 15 p.m.

Schloss Reinach in Freiburg offers a Mother's Day brunch from 11 a.m. From 12 noon, the Heidelberg Castle and the Schlosshotel Kronberg im Taunus will host a brunch.
