The tension of public transport in Rosario continues. This Monday, the Tramway Automotive Union (UTA) threatened that if the April salary payments are not completed in the afternoon, there would be an indefinite transport stoppage. They affirm that the conflict occurs because the subsidies of the Nation do not arrive.
"We did not receive the full salary of April, so we declared a state of alert. If around 14 or 15 the transfers were not made, we will surely decree a measure of force, "said the secretary general of the transport union of Rosario, Sergio Copello, according to the newspaper La Capital.
The representative of the Rosario drivers said in a conversation with LT8 that by not collecting all the salaries, the union put "a peremptory deadline until this Monday afternoon" so that there is a solution to the conflict.
"For the second month in a row, national subsidies did not arrive. The Municipal Compensation Fund and the provincial government made their contributions, and the businessmen now say they have no more money," said the union member and warned that "we decreed the state of alert and mobilization."
Copello confirmed that it is "very likely" that the measure of force will be adopted as of this Tuesday because "it is not guaranteed" that the drivers receive what is owed to them from their salaries.
"The problem here is that there is no probable payment date either. With the inflationary process that is taking place, waiting ten days is an enormity. We will not tolerate it," Copello threatened. Maybe, for employers that number of days is nothing, but for employees it is a lot, "he added.
The head of UTA Rosario remarked that the collectives "are not state workers and that they belong to the private sector." "Entrepreneurs have a responsibility to fulfill. This afternoon we are going to meet to make decisions and we warn the people so that they can organize since the strike has many chances of happening, "he warned.
The union representative warned that the strike that would be decreed would be for an indefinite period: "Until we are paid, we will not work again. The protest measure will continue until we all charge, otherwise it would not make sense," he said.
In Rosario there is an average of about 600 cars and the conflict concerns almost 2,<> workers. The national government owes him the subsidies corresponding to March and April and this lack caused the Rosario collectives not to collect their salaries in a timely manner.
Three other provinces are in a similar situation. These are Neuquén, Corrientes and Chaco where, due to the lack of subsidies, the companies did not comply with the payment of wages and overtime owed.
From the union they warned that in case of not reaching an agreement, a plan of struggle will be drawn up that will include constant strikes and a "federal march" of the drivers of the provinces.
