The actor Juan Darthés was acquitted in the first instance of the crime of rape against Thelma Fardin in the Justice of Brazil, as reported today by one of his defense lawyers.
"A member of our team informed me that he was acquitted in the last few hours. We have not yet had access to the ruling because everything is running in summary secrecy," Brazilian lawyer Euro Bento Maciel, one of Darthés' defenders, told Telam.
According to Maciel, the defense still did not have access to the ruling of Judge Ali Mazlum, of the federal jurisdiction of São Paulo, who processed the case, but the acquittal was notified.
The Brazilian lawyer indicated that the prosecution and the complaint can still appeal the ruling.
For his part, Fernando Burlando, Darthés' lawyer in Argentina, confirmed his acquittal.
"News was circulating on digital platforms that the trial had been annulled; That's a lie; It's fake news. What is not fake news is his acquittal," said the lawyer in dialogue with Crónica TV.
In addition, he maintained that the actor, who settled in Brazil after Fardin's complaint, "was really thoroughly investigated and the result of all that investigation was comforting for Juan's family."
The trial began on November 30, 2021, two years after Fardin filed the complaint for aggravated sexual abuse in December 2018 in Nicaragua, for facts allegedly accomplished in 2009 during a tour of the Argentine soap opera "Patito Feo", when both were part of the cast and she was 16 years old.
There is speculation that Fardin would hold a press conference on Saturday afternoon at Amnesty International, the organization that accompanied the actress during the process.
