The combination of sweet apples, crispy puff pastry and a pinch of cinnamon make the small apple pie croissants with cinnamon dip the new favorite dessert.

On May 13, the U.S. celebrates the ever-popular Apple PieDay. For those who don't know what an apple pie is, it's a delicious combination of apples, dough and love – at least if you can believe the many bakers in the USA.

The first apple pie recipe was written down as early as 1381 and does not come from North America, but from England. The list of ingredients included "good" apples, "good" spices, figs, raisins, pears, saffron and cofyn (a kind of dough). The ingredients don't sound very British, but rather oriental, like in this fruit salad with nut crunch.

To this day, not only the ingredients, but also the affiliation have changed, because now the inhabitants of the USA probably identify more with the delicious apple pie than the English (they prefer to eat "coronation quiche"). Because although the apple pie existed long before the east coast of today's United States was settled, Americans rave about how American and patriotic an apple pie is. The phrase "as American as apple pie" has been around for more than 100 years.

An apple pie is undoubtedly an important part of American culture. And on May 13, we have the perfect opportunity to celebrate this culture and feast on one of the tastiest desserts in the world. However, since a classic pie is a bit too elaborate for us, today there is a mini version in the form of delicious apple pie croissants. Happy Apple Pie Day!

Here's how to do it:
