The flair of Luna, a Malinois from the Gilette canine investigation group, will have led the soldiers to the discovery of cannabis plantations in a private individual.

On Tuesday, the officers found in the villa of a man living alone in Tourrettes-sur-Loup (Alpes-Maritimes) 68 plants well out of sight in a greenhouse.

The individual, absent during the search, surrendered on his own the next day and was placed in police custody, indicates the Grasse prosecution to

, confirming information from

Nice-Matin

.

This has been extended to learn more about the reasons for this wild and illegal cultivation.

More than a kilo of grass and 1.4 kilos of resin were seized.

Too much for personal consumption, judges a source familiar with the matter,

"even for a heavy consumer!"

.

But the profile of the man disturbs the investigators.

Aged 50, the latter is a market gardener by profession and still works.

He is almost unknown to the police since only one mention for drug use in 2015 appears.

Did he want to make ends meet?

“He is explaining himself but he is not very talkative”

, explains a source close to the investigation.

The amount of cannabis resin found calls out because it seems

“quite far removed from the market gardening activities that he occupies

,” adds the same interlocutor.

But he does not have the profile of the dealer.

The man lived alone in a beautiful villa with a swimming pool although he specified that he was dating someone.

He had spread his culture over approximately 20 m2 with all the equipment to maintain it (watering, lights).

An investigation had been opened on February 17 following information suggesting these facts.

At this stage, there is nothing to establish that the individual was growing the cannabis to resell it to dealers in the neighborhoods of Nice, such as that of Les Moulins, which has caused a lot of talk since the start of the week.

The Roquefort-les-Pins gendarmes, supported by the Grasse research brigade, are continuing their investigations following

"this important catch for an individual"

.
