The day after the vote on the Reducing the Cause of Reasonableness Law, many elements in the Israeli public need to do some soul-searching. The media, of which I am completely a part as a journalist, has reached an unprecedented low in recent months. It's true that the news will always highlight the negative and the worrisome, that's their DNA. Still, they should also reflect events in a balanced and balanced way. From the beginning of the protest, the media dealt with it disproportionately. That's how you build a consciousness of great protest and chaos. That's how you build a campsite.
I meet more and more people who say they don't believe a word spoken on the radio, in the newspaper or on television. Not even for the facts. I understand them. And then there's the matter of panic.
Look at the covers of yesterday's black newspapers, bought with the money of the high-tech protest. Is that the keel? Even in wars and terrible attacks, there were no black gates. It's okay that this is how the protesters see reality, but why are the newspapers cooperating with this? In the real covers, set by the paper's editors, only Israel Hayom called on politicians to strive for agreements. The rest of the newspapers continued the rift.
There was a call to keep fighting, there was a goal that claimed it was just the beginning, and there were the numbers 64-0 in a big red. If you brought a friend from another planet here, he would be sure that this is the only terrible thing happening in the country today. And yes, that's another issue – marginalizing all other, important news.

The reasonableness bill was significant, perhaps even dramatic, but it is not the only occurrence.
The day after the reasonableness legislation, the media must change direction. It must present a decent and balanced picture of reality and return to proportion. It must help break the animosity that has fueled for months.
If so, we will all feel that the ground is firmer, we will be able to calm down from the hysteria and start building what needs to be repaired.
