Highlights: The young people returned to the streets with a flag in hand, after several weeks of watching from the sidelines. They understand the significance of the crisis, but they are not willing to grovel either to the prime minister or to his ministers and advisers. They serve, they work, they pay taxes, and they understand that they can't buy an apartment because they carry people who don't serve on their backs. And they're fed up. They should also address the claim to those who were the first to arrive at Kaplan. Members of the generation that was the age of the state, plus or minus a decade.

The young people returned to the streets with a flag in hand, after several weeks of watching from the sidelines. Leading the protest together with the reservists, who one by one, like dominoes, announce that they will stop volunteering for the reserves. They understand the meaning.

You hear that the chief of staff estimates that in a day the army will not be fit. But they are not willing to be nice. They are not willing to grovel either to the prime minister or to his ministers and advisers. They serve, they work, they pay taxes, and they understand that they can't buy an apartment because they carry people who don't serve on their backs. And they're fed up.

They should also address the claim to those who were the first to arrive at Kaplan. Members of the generation that was the age of the state, plus or minus a decade. My generation. Persistent in coming to Kaplan. They carry flags and beep deafening zamburas, but much of the blame for the situation rests on their shoulders.

They fought in Israel's wars and were builders of the state. They absorbed immigration, established industry, educated generations of students, served and laid the foundation on which the state stands.

But one key thing they looked away from. Perhaps from laziness, perhaps from shortsightedness and perhaps out of optimism that as we have absorbed millions of immigrants, we will be able to address this issue as well. Therefore, they did not draft a treaty that would regulate relations between parts of the people. The Declaration of Independence was not enshrined in law.

They did not ensure that there would be a constitution for Israel with basic laws that could not be challenged. Each government dribbled the balls to the next government. They spoke in praise of the flag, unity, that it is appropriate to legislate a constitution for Israel, but they did nothing. They did not understand the demographic change that leads to a change in the nature of society.

It was inconceivable that years after the establishment of the state, draft evasion would be enshrined in legislation that would ensure that yeshiva students alongside young Arabs would not be drafted, but would also not be required to perform civilian service.

They did not ensure that the law stipulates that core studies are part of the curriculum for all Israeli students. Secular, ultra-Orthodox, religious, members of all religions. They talked among themselves and said things would work out. They can't possibly not understand that it's for their own good. They can't possibly not want an education that will help them acquire a profession through which they can support their families and children. And they didn't try to remove the barriers and talk.

And now, against the background of the desire to carry out a legal coup that will lead to regime change, everything is floating and exploding in our faces. They first realized the magnitude of the crisis and filled Kaplan. Then came the young people for whom reality was knocking on the window.

Now, beyond the fact that they will have to renew trust, they will have to sit down with representatives of this right generation and ask them how they see the right solution that will ensure that they continue to live in the country. Start families. Pay taxes and see Israel as their only home.

Among other things, they will have to open the distorted agreement with the ultra-Orthodox and the Arab sector and change the basic rules, first and foremost – military service or compulsory national service. In Basic Law. There are no blanket allowances. The value of Torah study will be preserved, but the numbers must change.

He will change, not because anyone is against Torah study. It will change because this is the order of the day. Because this right generation will not let its ultra-Orthodox brethren and members of the Arab sector be left behind.
