The party economy becomes greener thanks to the possibility of putting unwanted gifts and, in general, objects that are no longer used, back into circulation, promoting reuse and thus reducing the impact on the environment. According to research by the Confcooperative study center, savings of 3.3 billion euros are announced for those who will recycle gifts, that is to say half a billion more than last year. And many will do it. In fact, more than one in three Italians will be ready to recycle the gifts discarded under the tree: 23 million, or 2 million more Italians than the 21 last year.
It is 'Regifting ', that is, the tendency to recycle and / or sell unwanted gifts for sale, a behavior that Italians are approaching with increasing interest. Never as for the post-Christmas moment, the theme of what to do with gifts, especially double or unappreciated ones, is deeply felt. The practical and functional aspect of Regifting is accompanied by a topic such as the concept of circular economy, with a view to giving objects a second life and consequently promoting the reduction of waste. Regifting can be done online by registering or in physical places like the many chains of second-hand markets scattered throughout Italy.
This trend is contributing to fuel a more sustainable economy: the purchase of a second-hand object allows in fact to impact on the environment up to 2.5 times less than a new object, according to the eBay marketplace data that this Furthermore, between December 27 and January 6, with the #eBayDonaPerTe campaign, it undertakes, for each item sold by January 30, to donate 1 euro to Mosaico Verde, a national campaign promoted by Legambiente and AzzeroCO2 and sponsored by Kyoto Club.
On the web, eBay is certainly not the only one: you can sell gifts on Amazon for example, on Subito.it and on the Facebook marketplace itself. But gifts can also be donated without earning anything. On Facebook there is for example the community I will give it to you if you come to get it that has a lot of following. And there are many sites where you can exchange objects by practicing barter , this too is a form of circular economy.
