On the seventeenth day of confinement, the coronavirus continues to kill in France. According to the assessment communicated Thursday evening by the general direction of Health, the Hexagon deplores 471 additional deaths in 24 hours in hospitals. Or 4,503 dead to date, since the start of the epidemic.
In his traditional daily press briefing, director Jérôme Salomon gave the number of deaths in nursing homes for the first time, saying that all the information had not yet been reported from these centers. For the moment, France counts at least 883 elderly people who succumbed to Covid-19 in these establishments.
According to these initial "very partial" figures, at least 14,638 "confirmed or possible" cases of the disease have also been identified.
In addition, among the more than 26,000 people hospitalized, 6,399 are in intensive care. Or 382 more in one day, an increase that has slowed since Monday. Jérôme Salomon is happy to count 12,428 healings in France.
