This Sunday, on this 34th day of confinement, hundreds of new deaths linked to Covid-19 were again recorded. Since the start of the epidemic on March 1, 19,718 people have died from SARS-CoV-2 infection. Or 395 more in 24 hours.
12,069 of these people died in hospital and 7,649 died in social and medico-social establishments, including nursing homes (Ehpad).
New improvement in resuscitation
For the 11th day in a row, the number of patients in intensive care is decreasing. 5,744 are however still concerned. "These are 137 new patients admitted" in the past 24 hours, says Jérôme Salomon, director general of health. This balance is negative, with 89 fewer patients in intensive care.
Worldwide, the Covid-19 pandemic has killed more than 160,000 people, nearly two-thirds of them in Europe. The United States remains the country with the most deaths (39,090), ahead of Italy (23,227) and Spain (20,453).
