The Annecy International Animated Film Festival, which will take place from June 15 to 20 and online, unveils the second part of its programming, that concerning its masterpieces, feature films.

After having revealed the selection of short films, on April 15, Marcel Jean, the artistic delegate of the sixtieth International Animation Film Festival in Annecy announced this Monday, May 18, the second and last part of his official selection. The most anticipated, that of feature films.

Of the 76 films shown, 20 were selected by the manager, including those signed by French directors: Petit Vampire , by Joann Sfar (Long feature film in 2011 for Le Chat du rabbin ) on a young hero who has "10 years since three hundred years ” and dreams of having a friend and Calamity, a childhood by Martha Jane Cannary by Rémi Chayé (public award in 2015 for Tout en haut du monde ) with the voices of Salomé Boulven and Alexandra Lamy.

An online festival for the first time

Both are part of the official competition which is illustrated by its eclecticism and the richness of its themes. Among the ten other feature films in the running, there are two Russian films: The Nose or the Conspiracy of Mavericks , by "master" Andrey Khrzhanovsky, awarded in 1995 for The Lion with the Gray Beard and Ginger's Tale , by Konstantin Scherki.

Three Japanese films will also be in competition, notably Lupine III The First , by Takashi Yamazaki which should be acclaimed, we know him the gentleman burglar in France under another title ( Edgard of the burglar ). Marcel Jean indicates that "we will remember the presence of a Chilean film, a Mauritian film and another Egyptian" and that of a single director: Ilze Burkovska Jacobsen who will defend My Favorite War , inspired by her story. The festival which should have celebrated its 60th anniversary this year in Annecy will take place online for the first time in its existence. The management of the event indicates that if the jurors will watch all the films in competition, they will not necessarily all be broadcast on the Internet. She explains: “The financing conditions and the transfer of rights according to certain territories or markets prohibit in fact that some of them are available without restriction.
